Geneva LLM in International Humanitarian Law Degree

I am writing to inform you about our LL.M. Degree programme for those interested in the field of international law in armed conflicts. This Degree is offered by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (ADH), a joint venture of the Law Faculty of the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. The LL.M. Degree is granted by both institutions and can be taken either in English or in French.

We consider applications until 15 February 2010. I should also like to point out that the Academy offers a number of grants to cover tuition fees and cost of living in Geneva during the programme.

Branches covered in our programme include international humanitarian law, the law on the use of force and peace-keeping, human rights law, international criminal law and refugee law, as well as several optional classes allowing for further specialization. Furthermore, the programme now also offers students the possibility of earning credits for the completion of internships with local intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations and for the participation to an innovative Law Clinic in international criminal law. The latter allows selected students to collaborate to the work of the Defence counsels of the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

I would very much appreciate your support in making potential candidates aware of this programme. I should also be grateful if you could transmit this information to other institutions which might be interested in disseminating it.  To this end, I am pleased to attach the catalogue of the courses of the current academic year and a shorter description of the LL.M. programme.
