The documentary Produced by Community Development Library of Bangladesh, in collaboration with TVE Asia Pacific and Witness Aminul Islam directed this documentary duration 26 minutes portrays the total scenarios of acid violence in Bangladesh by focusing Kakoli’s life story and social movement, “Stop Acid Violence”.

The story: Women in Bangladesh have come increasingly under acid attacks as a form of retaliation, killing some and disfiguring many for life. Most victims are young women like Kakoli, who was attacked for spurning a fellow student’s marriage proposal. As the attacks increase, Bangladeshi civil society is agitating for stricter punishments for the criminals and greater care for the victims. Acid violence in Bangladesh :
Bangladesh has the highest world-wide incidence of acid violence. Generally acid victims are women particularly girl related with emotional love and spurned the sexual advances of a male or has rejected a proposal of marriage. Recently acid attacks periphery expanded into other conflict affairs mostly related with family or land disputes, dowry demands or a desire for revenge. It is distinct, acid violence commonly happen in lower-class and lower middle class realms where prominently have lacking consciousness and education. However main attackers and victims are youth and a ferocious form of violence against women in Bangladesh. My understanding it happen because of poverty related resentment, moral degradation, immature emotional practices as well as a result of class conflict that could be consider as community sin.
The result of acid thrown is horrific. In acid thrown Nitric or Sulphuric Acid use which is very dangerous for human flesh and skin. After attack the skin tissue melt, often expose the bone below the flesh, sometimes even dissolving the bone. When acid attacks the eyes, it damages these vital organs permanently. Many acid attack survivors have lost the use of one or both eyes. The victim is traumatized physically, psychologically and socially.
The research finding of Acid Survivors Foundation, “the major victim of attacked is Women(47%) and Men(26%). Children(27%) could not escape from the attack. Sometimes domestic animals or birds are also victimized.”
The first acid violence in the country was reported in 1967 which was attacked by love admirer. Even though there are highest punishment death plenty or lifelong person, the acid violence with day is increasing. It is report number of attack was 47 in 1996 which is increased as 484 in 2003.
