virtual keyboard for novices and most surprisingly a phonetic

: Sustainable Rural Livelihood Information Network |
| Development paradigm has
been shifted from only income dimension to more comprehensive
framework encapsulating broader livelihood perspective of
poor people with both income and non-income perspectives.
Access to resources is the core of themes of this livelihood
framework. While many dimensions of access to resources
have been addressed, the access to information dimension
has not been explored much. Meanwhile, ICT has been identified
also as a tool for facilitating poverty-alleviating activities.
Initially, the project identified the information needs
of the poor through participatory research methodology.
Based on the information needs the prototype portal has
been developed with eight areas: agriculture, market information,
education, human rights, legal support, health care, awareness
building, employment opportunity for rural people and digitised
maps and database on health, education and agriculture centres,
rural database. The portal includes maps and information
for identification of availability of particular services
in vicinity or in remote areas, with cost information and
other important information. |
